Mama and Dadda and Baby

Miles used to walk around and babble in a sing-song voice about “mama and dadda” (sometimes he’d throw “nana” in the mix). But now his chant has changed to “and mama, and dadda, and baby”. I’m pretty impressed that he understands that Lyla isn’t going anywhere. It’s not like I’ve sat him down recently and told him “your sister is here to stay!”. ;)

Miles still doesn’t mind his sister but he’s definitely testing us. We’ve had to say ‘no’ a lot more and are being forced to institute time-outs again. But really – all in all – he hasn’t been THAT bad. Here’s a shot of him messing around in some packing material at Eric’s office yesterday.

This is also his new way of smiling for the camera. It started when we came home from the hospital with Lyla. I don’t mind – he still looks cute.

We are still trying to get the perfect shot of Lyla for her birth announcement. At least in tonight’s attempt we were able to catch her with her eyes wide open.

Turn the flash down mommy!

Eric’s grandmother told me today that Lyla looks just like Eric’s dad did when he was this age. I agree with her that Lyla seems to favor that side of the family.

Eric has been a God-send helping me around the house. Friends have made the past week and a half so much more bearable by bringing us yummy, yummy food. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful support system. Thank you all again so much for everything – the well wishes, the food and the emails and phone calls. We love you!!
