Every night before Miles takes his bath he likes to sit on his potty. He progressed from sitting on it with clothes to sitting on it naked. In the past week or so he was starting to act like he was “trying” to go. Well sure enough this evening I was getting his bath ready and he walked in and said “pee-pee”. I undressed him as fast as I could and sure enough he sat down and urinated! It was kind of funny, though, cause he reached down and stuck his finger in the stream. I need to break that habit…

I think I may have scared him with all of the jumping up and down and loud praising. We’ll see if this keeps up. I’ll try and get a picture of him on his potty tomorrow night.

Miles has quite a fondness for mardi gras beads. So much so that he had to put them on right after his bath.

They come in very handy when you are thirsty too.

Last weekend we made a trip out to the land to make sure it was still there. Lyla got to see her pecan tree we planted before she was born.

Eric worked on carving her name into the picnic table while Miles played in dirt and snacked on crackers. Lyla was perfectly happy hanging out in her carseat.

Everything is still going great! Lyla goes to bed at 9pm and usually only wakes up at 4am to eat. I couldn’t be happier and haven’t needed to nap during the day in a whole week!! (yes – simple pleasures). Miles still loves his sister. Today when we went for a walk he was reaching over to her side of the stroller and grabbing her hand, saying “baby” in a very sweet tone. He also enjoys trying to peel her eyes open when she is sleeping within his reach. I have to keep a close eye on him.

Last Wednesday, my cousin headed down from Dallas to help me out with the kiddos. It was great having her here and I was able to get so much done around the house and even run errands!

We also gave Lyla her first bottle. She didn’t have any problems with it, except that she drank too fast and kept managing to spill it down her chin.

Miles decided that while Lyla had her bottle that it was time to feed his baby too.

Miles likes to rub his stuffed animals’ tails in his ear. I guess it’s his own soothing technique. The other day he untied my robe, grabbed the tie and started pulling me around the house while he rubbed his ear.

I guess it was time for a nap!!
Lyla is growing so fast. At her last doctor’s appt she was 8lb 7oz.

Miles still seems to like her and in the past few days has been getting her pacifier off the table and putting it in her mouth.

What’s worse than having a newborn and not sleeping? Having a newborn, a toddler that vomits for a week and then a mommy who get’s the toddler’s stomach bug. Yep – last week was NOT fun!! At least I can finally report that we are all well and life is returning to its new normal.

Eric’s sister, Heidi, came into town last week to help us out. She was amazing and did all of my laundry and ironing. It was so nice to have an extra set of hands to help play with Miles.

I was even able to take naps.

I will admit I haven’t been great about taking pictures with all that’s been going on. Hopefully I’ll make up for it this week. Here’s a shot from Lyla’s first real bath.

Miles has been doing great and laughs hysterically anytime Lyla sneezes. I’m just glad I can finally play with him again and lift him up! Lyla is still only waking up twice in the middle of the night. She really is an angel.
